Where has the time gone? It seems as though I was performing spring clean ups and putting down mulch to freshen beds for the spring just yesterday!

As the growing season begins to wind down, there are some things to consider which your landscapes and lawns will thank you for later. Removing built up leaves from the lawn will prevent smothering of the lawn. This relieves the lawn of those yellowed spots where leaves sat all winter under the snow. It also prevents from any mold or fungus growing in the lawn come spring time. Cleaning leaves from garden and flower beds also helps from pesky rodents taking up home there over the winter. Nothing is more inviting then a nice warm leaf bed! It also helps keep them away from plants that they may gnaw on when food is scarce this winter.

Applying a winterizing fertilizer is also a good idea. It helps lawns store food for winter survival as well as encourage a thick rapid growth in the spring.
